13.2.1. Packages: Introduction
A package in Java is used to group related classes, interfaces, enums, and subpackages. The dot (.) notation is used to uniquely identify package members in the package hierarchy. The Ailment class can be easily identified by the name wizard.pandorasBox.artifacts.Ailment. This is called the fully qualified name of the type.
Java programming environments usually map the fully qualified name of packages to the underlying (hierarchical) file system.
